This is the promotional video for our new album. It includes some of the songs from the album, a short interview with Michele Stodart and video footage of the Oaklands children taken around the school during rehearsals and recording sessions.
The video also explains a little about why we started our music album project and what the children, our school and the wider school community hope to achieve from the project.
We really hope you enjoy it. We absolutely love it!
I believe that music is a universal language to express joy, sadness, recall good times and bad. When Michele Stodart, one of our new mums at Oaklands, presented the idea of creating a school album, how could we say no? As a school we had suffered a tragic loss – one of our children, Shanade Sharma, died unexpectedly on Boxing Day 2012.
– Sash Hamidi, Headteacher
The whole of our school has been working on drawings and paintings for the CD cover and booklet. You can see some of this artwork by clicking the button below. They're wonderful, colourful drawings. We've organised them by year group. The drawings are mainly influenced by the song titles chosen for the album. We'll try and add even more as soon as we're able - they're so good!
Michele Stodart and a group of Oaklands children recorded a special session for the BBC Radio 2 Dermot O'Leary show at the world-famous Maida Vale Studios. Michele and the children were also interviewed by Dermot. The session aired on Saturday 15th June. Unfortunately, the show has now expired on the BBC iPlayer.
Michele Stodart and some of the Oaklands children played live at the annual Hanwell Carnival on Saturday 15th June. They performed two songs - the newly composed "Forever Young" and Fleetwood Mac's "Everywhere". Even the heavy rain didn't stop them! Everyone sang brilliantly. Thanks for your support.
